The quake struck at 21:12 pm Jakarta time (1412 GMT) with epicenter at 136 km southeast Jakarta or 24 km southeast Cianjur of West Java province and with the depth at 163 km beneath the earth, an official of the Meteorology and Geophysics Agency told Xinhua by phone.
The USGS reported that the quake was at 138.8 km under land.
The intensity of the quake was felt at 3 to 4 MMI (Modified Mercally Intensity) in Cianjur of West Java, 2 MMI in Jakarta, 2 to 3 MMI in Bandung, the provincial capital of West Java, the official said.
Spokesman of the National Disaster Management and Mitigation Agency Sutopo Purwo Nugroho told Xinhua by phone that there was no initial report of building damages or casualties.
