MEXICO CITY - Mexican federal police said on Friday that they have captured a suspected murderer, kidnapper, rapist and drug gang member who is one of the FBI's 10 most-wanted fugitives.
Joe Luis Saenz, 37 and a US citizen from Los Angeles, was arrested in the city of Guadalajara in western Mexico on Thursday, local government officials said.
The FBI said he would be returned to Los Angeles this weekend under FBI escort.
The FBI alleges Saenz fatally shot two rival gang members in Los Angeles in July 1998 and kidnapped, raped and murdered his estranged girlfriend less than two weeks later.
He is also accused of a fourth murder in Los Angeles county in October 2008.
The FBI offered up to 100,000 US dollars for information leading to his arrest.
Saenz was believed to be working for a Mexican drug cartel and to travel between the United States and Mexico, the FBI said.
