SOFIA - Heavy snowfall hit heavily the power supply and blocked roads in the mountainous regions of Southeast Bulgaria on Wednesday morning, officials said.
As many as 85 small settlements located mainly in the districts of Smolyan, Kardzhali and Haskovo were left without electricity, the local grid operator EVN Bulgaria said.
Over 30 emergency teams are working to restore power, challenged by the snow blocked roads and fallen trees, the operator said.
Currently, Code Orange for hazardous weather is declared in 13 districts in east Bulgaria.
