LONDON - British Prime Minister David Cameron has opened an account on Sina Weibo, China's twitter-like microblog website, to say hello ahead of his visit to China.
In his first message on Weibo, the prime minister said, "Hello my friends in China. I'm pleased to have joined Weibo and look forward to visiting China very soon."
Cameron opened his Weibo account on Friday and has now attracted more than 125,000 followers.
Up to now, he has posted three messages. The other two features pictures of his recent visit to a Chinese painting exhibition and a meeting with a group of students who have studied Chinese language.
"I enjoyed visiting the 'Masterpieces of Chinese Painting' exhibition at the Victoria & Albert Museum in London yesterday (November 28) before my trip to China," Cameron said on Weibo.
Cameron will pay an official visit to China from December 2 to 4. He is expected to lead a large delegation consisting of several cabinet members as well as about 150 representatives from business and trade sectors.
