TIRANA - Albania and Britain on Thursday inked a memorandum on beefing up cooperation against human-trafficking and other organized crimes.

The deal was signed in London by Albanian Interior Minister Saimir Tahiri and British Home Secretary Theresa May, according to Albanian Daily News.

Albania "stands firm in the fight against organized crime and corruption, drugs and human-trafficking," Tahiri said, adding that his country is ready to share information on criminal gangs and launch joint operations against organized crime.

"We have launched reforms in the sector of security and ... we are determined to push ahead with legal and restructuring reforms," added the minister.

For her part, May spoke highly of the scores the Albanian government has achieved in the fight against organized crime and trafficking of drugs and human beings.

"We are willing to intensify cooperation between the law-enforcement agencies," May was quoted as saying.
