This is Chinese President Xi Jinping's second Latin America tour since taking office last March. During the trip, Xi will attend the sixth BRICS summit in Brazil.

Then vice-president Xi was invited by then Brazilian vice-president Jose Alencar and the governments of the other five countries. The trip promoted China's friendship and cooperation with the region.
