Honeywell International Inc, a US-based technology and manufacturing company, has officially entered the smart home market in China by introducing its first air purifiers Air Touch and Air Touch-S.

Dino Asvaintra, vice president and general manager of Honeywell Connected Home Global High Growth Regions, says the the products will target the medium to high-end market, but not the super high-end market.

"Our intent here is to create products and solutions that are right for the China market under our strategy 'East for East'," he says."We want our first product to really get into normal consumers. Chinese market is different from the US one, here consumers need good quality and a good price."

The price of of the purifier is around 3,000 yuan. The machine is manufactured and put together in China, but some components like the filters are imported.

Honeywell may also bring the filter manufacturing to China so long as it can maintain the high standards of quality, Asvaintra says. "Or if we can find suppliers and sources in China that we feel can meet those."

Explaining why Honeywell chose air purifier as the starting product, Asvaintra says whenever the companyexplores a new market, it researches first what the local consumers want.

"For example, the average Chinese citizensdefinitely care air and water the most, so let's solve the people's problems starting from our smart air purifier."
