The Kenya Chinese Chamber of Commerce Chairman Zhuo Wu said the chamber aims to become the bridge of communication between the Chinese communities and local Kenyan society.

"Since the establishment of diplomatic relations between our two countries in 1963, we have experienced great achievements in the economic, cultural and political arena," he said.

Prior to the official launch of the chamber, Zhuo said its members had organized two successful events, which included helping farmers in Machakos to sell mangoes, as well as donating foodstuffs to theMakueni County people who are suffering from severe drought.

"These good memories make me believe that, the Kenya Chinese Chamber of Commerce will achieve more in its future work. We are together to share and support each other. But the most important perspective of our goals is to establish a platform for all the Chinese in Kenya and local communities to exchange information and better serve the country where we live," he said.

Jacky Liu of Orient Pearl Ltd, one of the Chinese companies with operations in Kenya, said the chamber will give Chinese investors in Kenya a platform to understand Kenya better as well as bring them together to pursue social work in efforts to help Kenyans.

"The chamber will bring Chinese companies together and help them to have a more intimate relationship with the local companies and investors," he said.

Since the Beijing Summit in 2006, Kenya has become a bright spot of China-Africa cooperation.
