A man shot and killed three people and then himself early Wednesday at a UPS facility in San Francisco. Two others were shot and five more were hurt in the rush to escape.

The incident happened shortly before 9 am as drivers gathered for their morning meeting. The shooter, a UPS employee, allegedly targeted the manager at the facility, an area sorting hub and delivery center. UPS employs 350 people there.

According to ABC 7's source, the shooter was identified as Jimmy Lam, a middle-aged man living in the Sunset District with his children. The report said Lam had a history of mental illness.

Police recovered two guns from the scene, including an "assault pistol".

"We can't continue to allow this level of gun violence to become the new normal in our nation," said California state Senator Scott Wiener in a statement.

"Today we mourn the San Franciscans who were murdered in cold blood and send positive energy to the survivors of these shootings. Tomorrow we get back to work to enact common sense gun control legislation," he said.
