Time to ban plastic bags?

chinadaily.com.cn | Updated: 2019-03-02 09:47

Longzhou (Spain)

Plastic or not, the problem is not the bag. The problem starts when the user of the bag, and other plastic products, disposes of it incorrectly.

If everybody cared to separate their own garbage into different categories, then we wouldn't have problems with plastic, since it can be recycled "ad infinitum".

In my hometown, Barcelona, you have to separate all your home garbage and waste and put them in different color containers outside on the street; green for common house garbage, blue for paper and carton and yellow for plastics. As for dead batteries, you have to use also special containers.

Waste sorting bins are set up in the rest area outside the Shanghai Municipal People's Congress venue at the Shanghai World Expo Exhibition and Convention Center on Jan 26, 2019. [Photo/IC]
