A photoshoot to break the ice

This family photoshoot looks a little more dangerous than most. As the family appears to balance precariously between deep cracks in the ice, a series of photos were taken.

From having a full on 4X4 on the surface, to the family appearing to walk along a deadly tightrope on a singular long crack, the series is enough to put anyone one edge.

But luckily the cracks on the surface of Baikal Lake in Siberia do not go all the way through the thick, dense ice, creating a safe marbled effect. Teacher Alexander Ippolitov, who took the shots, said "The ice width here is about 70 to 80 centimeters thick from January to the end of March".
