Return of the Taliban: What's next for Afghanistan?

Probably. Time will tell. But the main reasons most people are appalled by the idea of the Taliban ruling are twofold: (i) because of what they did last time they ran the country and (ii) because their social values are pretty different from Western liberal values.

If the Taliban do become more enlightened, we should absolutely be active in working with them, and there is nothing wrong with allowing the Afghan people to live a more peaceful and stable life.
