Merck has applied for emergency authorization for experimental COVID pill

Merck and Ridgeback Biotherapeutics announced on Monday that they have applied to US healthcare regulators for emergency use authorization for their joint anti-coronavirus pills. A five-day course of eight pills a day, totaling 40 pills and taken orally, costs about $700.
