Cash-strapped consumers shift from full-price items to discounted ones

Inflation and debt have led US consumers to cut back on big-ticket and nonessential purchases, and people are now turning to various discount stores in search of deals. A prolonged period of high inflation has taken a huge toll on the finances of American consumers. According to data released by Moody's, US households paid $709 more for the same goods and services in July than they did two years ago.
