In a recent interview, renowned artist Umberto Fanni emphasized the significance of using art as a bridge to connect diverse cultures and traditions.

He was attending a parallel forum on mutual respect and cooperation between civilizations during the 2023 Beijing Culture Forum, hosted by the Publicity Department of the Communist Party of China Central Committee, the CPC Beijing Municipal Committee and the Beijing municipal government.

Fanni, who serves as the director general and artistic director of the Royal Opera House Muscat, expressed gratitude to the National Center of Performing Arts (NCPA) in Beijing for their collaboration in co-producing the iconic opera Lakmé by Léo Delibes.

Fanni acknowledged that bringing together different cultures through the language of art is an endeavor that requires effort and shared expertise. He highlighted the importance of sharing ideas and artistic opinions to create a production that effectively embodies and represents diverse cultural backgrounds. The partnership between NCPA and the Royal Opera House Muscat exemplified this collaborative spirit, serving as a corporate action that merged their unique perspectives.

The groundbreaking co-production of Lakmé stands as a testament to Fanni's vision, showcasing the potential of art to foster cultural exchange and harmonize traditions from around the world.
