Welcome to Milele, a TV series inspired by the real stories of Chinese medical teams sent to Africa, began airing on three satellite channels in Shanghai, Jiangsu, and Hunan provinces, as well as on the streaming sites of Youku and Migu, on Tuesday.

Starring Jin Dong, Zu Feng and Zhang Yuqi, the series revolves around a group of doctors who embark on a life-changing journey. Assigned to work in a village, they not only give medical aid but also form deep connections with residents, forging friendships that transcend borders and barriers.

Shot in China and in Tanzania, scenes were filmed in Hangzhou in Zhejiang province, Wanning in Hainan province, as well as in Zanzibar and Dar es Salaam in Tanzania. Additional scenes were shot in the Arusha National Park and the Serengeti National Park.

The premiere of the series was held in Beijing on Monday. Liang Zhenhua, chief scriptwriter and chief producer, revealed that the script includes some characters named after actual Chinese doctors sent to work in Africa.
