A sweet harvest in Guangxi

A farmer loads lychees on to a truck in Beiliu, Guangxi province, on June 6, 2012.
In June, workers in Beilu, Guangxi province, which is known as China’s hometown of lychee, will harvest 20,000 mu (1,200 hectares) of a high-quality type of the fruit called “feizixiao”. This type of lychee is attracting merchants from all over China after the price dropped since last year to 8 yuan (about $1.25) per kilogram.
There are 560,000 mu of lychee in Beiliu, which is the main source of income for local farmers.[Photo/CFP]
