At least three people were killed and many injured when a truck hit a group of pedestrians before ploughing into a department store in central Stockholm, Swedish media reported. Shots have also reportedly been fired in another part of the city, the BBC said.
The Swedish newspaper Aftonbladet published a photo online showing the large truck embedded in the front window of a department store in Drottnigattan, a popular pedestrian street in central Stockholm.
Swedish Prime Minister said the country had been attacked and there was every indication it was an act of terrorism.
Recently France, Germany and the UK have suffered terror attacks using vehicles from Islamic militants.
