In November 2016, Dong Wanyu living in a village in Chongqing found that she can get diagnoses online. Ninety-two-year-old Granny Chen, who lives 1,500 km away from Dong in Fujian province, also got her illness treated online for the first time in her life.
This was part of e-commerce giant Alibaba's health project, which aims to provide physical examinations, online treatment and healthcare information and services to more than 30,000 Taobao-related villages. The project is expected to benefit tens of millions of Chinese villagers.
