BEIJING - Danish Prime Minister Lars Loekke Rasmussen will visit China from May 2 to May 5 at the invitation of Chinese Premier Li Keqiang, Foreign Ministry spokesperson Geng Shuang announced Tuesday.
Geng said Chinese President Xi Jinping, Premier Li and top Chinese legislator Zhang Dejiang will meet or hold talks with Rasmussen, and will exchange views on bilateral ties and issues of common concern.
Geng said Denmark was one of the first western countries to establish diplomatic ties with China, as well as the first Nordic country to set up a comprehensive strategic partnership with China.
"We believe that Rasmussen's visit will enhance political mutual trust, expand bilateral practical cooperation, and lift the China-Denmark comprehensive strategic partnership to a new high," he said, adding that it will promote the cooperation between China and Northern Europe as well.
