China's leading energy equipment producer has said it will increase construction in central and western parts of Asia, as part of the development of the Belt and Road Initiative.
Tebian Electric Apparatus Stock, based in the Xinjiang Uygur autonomous region, will strengthen cooperation with China's neighboring countries, including Tajikistan, "to share advanced technologies in electric transformation and energy saving", publicity manager Chen Dan said.
She made the remarks to about 50 journalists from home and abroad who visited the company's headquarters on Sunday.
Tebian is a global manufacturer of high-performance transformers that was founded nearly 30 years ago.
"Our technologies help nations minimize energy loss during electric power transmission," Chen said. "Such aid has increased since China proposed the Belt and Road Initiative in 2013. It has helped the company seek a greater share of the power infrastructure business in Central and West Asia."
Tebian has won contracts for a $500 million state grid project in Tajikistan and a $580 million north-south grid project in Kyrgyzstan since the initiative was proposed. The latter project is the largest energy deal between China and Kyrgyzstan.
"It's an energetic company, as the average age of our employees is 31 and it includes talent from a variety of ethnic groups," Chen said.
She added that the company expects the younger generation to make significant contributions to speeding up the development of technologies abroad under the initiative.
