Anti-graft work must adhere to Party leadership; rules enhanced
The country's inspection work, which has proved effective in boosting clean governance, should focus on adhering to the leadership of the Communist Party of China, according to a key meeting on Friday presided over by President Xi Jinping.
At the meeting of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee, the senior leaders reviewed two documents on inspection work — one about revising the regulation on inspection, the other a report about inspection of the ideological departments of the CPC central authorities.
Inspection is used by the CPC to supervise Party and government departments in fighting corruption. The CPC Central Commission for Discipline Inspection, the country's top anti-graft agency, has launched 11 rounds of inspection of Party and government departments, State-owned enterprises, institutes and universities since the 18th CPC National Congress in 2012.
The inspection work should focus on sticking to the Party's leadership, strengthening the Party's buildup and comprehensively enhancing Party discipline, according to a statement released after the meeting.
The important speeches of Xi, who is also general secretary of the CPC Central Committee, and his new thoughts on the governance of China should be implemented to enhance inspection work, said the statement.
During the meeting, senior officials were asked to set themselves as examples by exercising self-restraint in the use of their power, accepting supervision and acting in line with rules.
The revised regulation has made more concrete rules for the inspection of central Party and government authorities, inspection work at city and county levels and the full range of inspections, the statement said.
Ideological work was also highlighted at the meeting as "of great importance for the Party".
The inspection of the Party's publicity authorities, culture departments and media organizations is a kind of comprehensive political "physical examination", through which the CPC has enhanced its leadership in ideology, said the statement.
