BEIJING - The 24th World Congress of Philosophy, with the theme "learning to be human", will be held in Beijing from Aug 13 to 20, 2018.
This is the first time the congress will be held in China.
According to the agenda, there will be five plenary sessions, ten symposia, and 99 group sections for philosophers from around the world to discuss emerging global issues.
Dermot Moran, president of the International Federation of Philosophical Societies (FISP) said recently at Peking University that the congress holds great significance in the development of global philosophy.
"We are expecting philosophers to inspire people to reflect on self, community, nature, spirit, and tradition with their wisdom," said Lin Jianhua, president of both Peking University and the Chinese organizing committee for the congress.
The World Congress of Philosophy, the highest-level international meeting on philosophy, has been held by FISP since 1900.
