Macao sees no significant change in business climate in June

MACAO -- Information Statistics and Census Service (DSEC) of China's Macao Special Administrative Region (SAR) indicated on Friday that 45 percent of the interviewed restaurants reported a year-on-year growth in receipts in June, down slightly by 1 percentage point from May.
In retail industry, 46 percent of the interviewed retailers reported a year-on-year increase in sales in June, down by 1 percentage point from May.
Performance of different types of retailers varied, with 56 percent of the watches, clocks and jewellery retailers recording a year-on-year rise in sales, up 11 percentage points.
However, the corresponding shares of department stores (33 percent) and adults' clothing retailers (50 percent) dropped by 22 and 15 percentage points respectively.
All of the interviewed leather goods retailers and 56 percent of the supermarkets showed a year-on-year growth in sales.
The interviewed restaurants expected a slight improvement in their business during the summer holiday in July, while the retailers expected no significant change in their business in July, according to the DSEC.
