Blue Note Beijing, the first branch of New York's famous Blue Note Jazz Club in China, celebrated its first anniversary on Sept 8, with a show by Grammy nominated saxophonist Ravi Coltra.
More performances will be staged at the venue, marking its first birthday, including shows by Cuban pianist Harold Lopez-Nuss, American jazz vocalist and Grammy winner Kurt Elling, and American jazz saxophonist Kamasi Washing.
Chinese jazz musicians too will share the stage, including Beijing-based singer-songwriter and percussionist Gu Feng, who is known for his bossa nova beats.
Blue Note Beijing, which opened on Sept 13 last year, has hosted some of the biggest names in jazz, including Grammy winner bassist Stanley Clarke and jazz pianist, 22-time Grammy winner Chick Corea. More than 200 shows have already been staged at the venue.
