Xinhua | Updated: 2017-09-21 15:48

DALIAN -- A new duty-free store will open this month at the airport in Dalian, a port city in northeast China's Liaoning Province, to encourage consumption by Chinese and foreign inbound passengers.

The store, covering an area of 300 square meters, will sell nearly 1,000 items to passengers, before they pass through customs at the Dalian International Airport, the airport said Thursday.

Each customer is allowed to buy 8,000 yuan ($1,200) worth of duty-free goods abroad, including purchases at the store, while clearing customs, according to Chinese law.

The duty-free store is operated by the China National Service Corporation for Chinese Personnel Working Aboard. Since 2015, China has encouraged increasing inbound duty-free stores.
