ISLAMABAD - Pakistani Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi will participate in the extraordinary summit of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) at Istanbul on Wednesday over US President Donald Trump's decision to recognize Jerusalem as the Israeli capital.
Trump's decision sparked worldwide criticism, especially in the Islamic countries.
The summit will be preceded by the Council of Foreign Ministers' Meeting, the Paksitani foreign ministry said on Monday.
The summit has been called by Turkey in the capacity as the chair of the OIC summit. Most OIC members are expected to attend, the foreign ministry said in a statement.
The OIC leaders are expected to explore ways to deal with the situation, the statement further said, adding that Abbasi will convey the sentiments of the people and government of Pakistan of the unequivocal support to the people of Palestine.
He will stress upon the OIC for a united stance on the issue of Jerusalem and call upon the U.S. administration to review its decision, the foreign ministry said.
