The EU-China Think Tank Dialogue: Partnership for Peace and Security Cooperation was organized by the Delegation of the European Union to China, European Council on Foreign Relations and Chinese Institute of International Studies on Tuesday in Beijing.

"The world of today requires a strong partnership between the European Union and China to provide stability on the global stage. We must – and do – work together on an ever-increasing number of issues, especially on the DPRK, Africa, Middle East Peace Process, Syria, Afghanistan, and Iran nuclear deal," said Hans Dietmar Schweisgut, EU ambassador to China, in the opening speech.

During two rounds of dialogs, European and Chinese experts took stock of China-EU peace and security cooperation and the common ground and shared tasks.

François Godement, Asia Program director, acknowledged that with further cooperation, China and the EU will better help restore the world order, particularly in areas such as Afghanistan.

Xu Qiyu, deputy director of the Institute of Strategic Studies at National Defense University, and Li Qiang, director of Centre for European Studies at Peking University, respectively stressed the importance of "mutual trust and sharing information" and "reserved differences may be eased in the process of seeking development in the common ground".

The EU-China Peace and Security Forum has shown the importance of further China-EU cooperation for their own benefits and moreover, for an increasingly unstable world.
