NAIROBI — Chinese smartphone maker OPPO on Tuesday launched a new device for Kenya's Christmas festive season.
OPPO Brand Director Jesse Wu said in a statement released in Nairobi that its latest premium device, the F5 6GB Christmas Red Edition comes with more RAM and storage.
"Only 500 devices of the limited edition F5 6GB will be available with an exquisite appearance in red and black at a cost of approximately $400 in the Kenyan market," Wu said.
OPPO is targetting Kenya's high-end consumer market, where demands are fueled by the East African nation's rising income levels.
The new handset comes with the 6-inches FHD+ Full screen display. Wu added that this is the first time a mid-range smartphone has been equipped with such clear and vivid full screen display.
In 2016, OPPO was ranked as the number four smartphone brand globally, according to the International Data Corporation.
The Chinese brand entered the Kenyan market in March 2015. Kenya has emerged as a lucrative market for Chinese smartphones including Huawei, Tecno and OPPO.
