New campaign to promote patriotism, loyalty in countryside

BEIJING -- A new campaign will be launched this year to promote patriotism and socialism and enhance loyalty to and confidence in the Party among rural residents, said a Party document on Jan 5.

Party publicity departments at all levels should conduct the campaign using cultural products popular with ordinary rural residents, said the guideline issued by the Publicity Department of the Communist Party of China Central Committee.

They should encourage ordinary rural residents to follow the Party and keep confidence in "the path, theory, system and culture of socialism with Chinese characteristics," according to the document.

More effort will also be made to explain Party and government policies, raise morale and promote a healthy lifestyle.

Rural Party branches should play a more active part in mobilizing and educating the people, the document said.
