Zhou Enlai

Zhou Enlai, the first premier of the People's Republic of China, respected and loved by generations of Chinese people, was born to an upper-class family in the Year of Dog, 1898.

He was drawn into the vortex of Chinese politics during the May Fourth Movement and joined the Chinese Communist Party in 1922 during a work-study program in Europe. Zhou devoted his life to the Communist cause of China. He always will be remembered as a skilled and able diplomat who helped China thrive in the global community.
