Jiangxi official under investigation

Li Yihuang, vice-governor of East China's Jiangxi province, is being investigated for alleged serious disciplinary violations, according to the website of the Central Commission for Discipline Inspection on Wednesday.

No other details were provided on the website.

Born in October 1962, Li is a native of Jinjiang in East China's Fujian province.

Li joined the Communist Party of China in January 1987. From October 1978 to August 1982, Li studied in the ferrous metallurgy department of Northeastern University of Technology (today known as Northeastern University) with a major in heavy metal smelting.

Li served as the head of Guixi Copper Smelting Plant under the Jiangxi Copper Company from August 1982 to January 2001.

Starting in January 2001, Li successively served as a member of the Party Committee, deputy secretary of the Party Committee and vice-president, president and chairman of the Jiangxi Copper Industry Co. In February 2009, he was appointed as president and chairman of the Jiangxi Copper Co Ltd.

In August 2011, Li was appointed as a member of the Standing Committee of the Party committee of Yingtan city.

Li was appointed vice-governor of Jiangxi province in January 2013.
