TIANJIN - US electric car maker Tesla said Thursday that it has expanded the charging network in China, its most important market.
The charging network now covers most cities in the Yangtze River Delta, the Pearl River Delta, Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region and Chengdu-Chongqing area, according to Tesla China branch.
The number of Tesla's superchargers has exceeded 1,000. With a supercharger, a vehicle can be fully charged within an hour. The company has also installed more than 2,000 regular chargers in many cities and tourist destinations across the country.
Tesla has also built the world's three largest charging stations in China, which can charge 50 cars in the same time.
Tesla now has more than 30 stores and more than 50 after sales centers in China.
Last year, Tesla made the decision to deliver slightly modified versions of Model S and Model X vehicles to the Chinese market, to meet the standards for Chinese chargers. The move has given Tesla customers more charging options besides Tesla's own charging network.
