Six golden takin calves, one of China’s rare and endangered animals, were born in January at Chimelong Safari Park in Guangzhou, Guangdong province.

The calves have gained 1 kg a day since their birth.

The park now has more than 40 golden takins, according to Zhou Shiqiang, deputy director of animal management.

Chimelong Safari Park introduced its first group of eight golden takins in 2009 from Gansu and Shaanxi provinces. Since then, two or three takins have been born each year.
