President Xi Jinping's special representative Yang Jiechi will visit the Republic of Korea from Thursday to Friday, the Foreign Ministry has announced.

Yang, a member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China's Central Committee, will be in Seoul for an exchange of views, Foreign Ministry spokesman Lu Kang said on Wednesday.

The ROK trip was confirmed by both Beijing and Seoul on Wednesday following the recently concluded unofficial China visit paid by Kim Jong-un, top leader of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea.

Yang is scheduled to meet with ROK President Moon Jae-in, chief of the ROK presidential National Security Office Chung Eui-yong, and ROK Foreign Minister Kang Kyung-wha.

The upcoming trip to Seoul will see views exchanged on advancing China-ROK joint efforts to properly tackle the Korean Peninsula nuclear issue, Lu told reporters at a daily news conference in Beijing.
