Couple shares 74 years together

With temperatures rising, Harbin, capital of Northeast China's Heilongjiang province has welcomed its spring.

Li Yinmin, 93 and his wife Ai Huizhen, 94, can enjoy walking hand in hand outside.

“They are kind and optimistic,” said a neighbor. “Their shadows make us feel warm and moving.”

“We have been married for 74 years and we have known each other since we were teenagers,” Li said. “But we have forgotten the exact wedding date, only remembering it was a day in winter.”

In the past decades, the couple hasn't had roses, romantic dates or sweet words.

However, it doesn't affect the love between them.

“For our generation, the most important thing is to make the best of every day,” Li said. “Each day we spend together is memorable.”

Li likes reading while Ai can only read a few words, so everyday Li reads the newspaper to Ai and shares interesting news to her.

Last year, Li suffered a cerebral infarction and it became difficult for him to move following treatment.

Ai became his "waking stick" and helped him with daily physical therapy.

“They never leave each other,” said Li Shuanghua, their son. “When one of them was in hospital, the other one must be in the other's company, even if they did nothing or said nothing.”

“They are examples to us descendants. We hope we can have the same happy life as them,” he added.
