Beijing choir competition for seniors draws enthusiastic response

The second Beijing choir competition for the elderly kicked off on May 8.
The competition which is being hosted by Beijing's Xicheng district publicity department and the Beijing TV Station and aims to call public attention to seniors and their issues.
Organizers are also hoping to boost patriotism education through the event.
Approximately 100-120 choirs are in the race and 12 teams will make it to the final.
Well-known musicians and conductors form part of the judging panel.
The champions will represent Beijing in a national competition later in the year.
Last year's event drew 119 choirs.
