BEIJING - China's top legislator Li Zhanshu met with Kazakh President Nursultan Nazarbayev in Beijing on Friday, calling for dovetailing development strategies and deepening all-round cooperation.

Li, chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress, hailed the progress achieved by the two sides in promoting the Belt and Road Initiative, which has set a fine example internationally.

President Xi Jinping held talks with President Nazarbayev on Thursday with fruitful outcomes, mapping out the future of bilateral relations, Li said.

Li called on legislative bodies of the two countries to implement the consensuses reached by the two heads of state, and strengthen exchanges of experience in state governance.

Kazakhstan admires China's great achievements and appreciates China's long-term support, Nazarbayev said.

He pledged to strengthen cooperation with China on promoting the Belt and Road Initiative, support fighting the "three evil forces" of terrorism, extremism and separatism, and boost exchanges between legislative bodies of the two countries.

Earlier in the day, Nazarbayev laid a wreath at the Monument to the People's Heroes in downtown Beijing.
