TOKYO - A man was killed and two others were injured in a stabbing incident on a Shinkansen bullet train in Japan Saturday night, local police said.

The police originally said three people aboard the Nozomi 265 bullet train bound for Shin-Osaka from Tokyo were injured, including a man in his 30s who was seriously wounded and lost consciousness.

The seriously-wounded man was later confirmed dead and the situation of the two other injured was not revealed.

The police detained the 22-year-old male stabber on suspicion of attempted murder and are now investigating the case.
