Thanks to a clue from a resident, Beijing police seized 3.6 kilograms of heroin and arrested a suspect in a recent crackdown.
"We caught the suspect attempting to deliver the drugs from overseas to Beijing and kept the peace," a statement provided by the capital's Public Security Bureau read on Tuesday.
Police in the city's Haidian district received a clue from a netizen in early May, in which they were told the suspect, surnamed Ding, was willing to carry a large amount of drugs from overseas to Beijing, it said. But it did not reveal the exact place where the drugs came from.
"We paid attention to this clue, and established a team to deal with the case," the statement read. "After finding Ding had sent the drugs to Hebei province by express delivery, we dispatched some police officers to the province to follow him and prepare for an arrest."
Ding was caught on May 11 when he drove a car to a hotel in Haidian from Hebei, and is under detention, the statement read.
According to the statement, the case is still being investigated.
