Chinese shares fall below 2,800 points

Chinese stocks plummeted on Thursday, with the benchmark Shanghai Composite Index down 0.93 percent, closing at 2,786.90 points.
The Shenzhen Component Index decreased 1.06 percent, dropping to 9,071.73 points.
The ChiNext Index, China's NASDAQ-style board of growth enterprises, lowered 0.17 percent on Thursday, sinking to 1,543.66 points.
