FUZHOU - Customs officials in East China's Fujian province have seized 156,000 pairs of plastic slippers that infringed upon the intellectual property rights of the 2018 FIFA World Cup.
Fuzhou customs discovered that the products, printed with words like "FIFA WORLD CUP" or "RUSSIA 2018," or the event's official emblem, were meant be exported.
FIFA confirmed they did not authorize production of the slippers.
The products were seized on June 20 and further investigation is under way. Fuzhou customs had also intercepted similar fake products like shirts, shoes and hats, found among postal articles.
Customs in China's major export-oriented manufacturing bases, including Fujian, Zhejiang, Guangdong and Hubei provinces, continue to crack down on counterfeit World Cup products.
