Xinhua | Updated: 2018-07-05 21:24

BEIJING - Chinese central authorities have released a plan on the fight against gang crime at provincial level.

According to the general offices of the Communist Party of China Central Committee and the State Council, authorities will supervise lower Party committees and governments at even county or village level when it comes to major cases.

Headed by the commission for political and legal affairs of the CPC Central Committee, a group will be set up to lead the campaign.

Work will continue until the end of 2019, when the situation will be reassessed.

The supervision will focus on implementation of decisions by central authorities, outcomes of actions against gangs and organized crimes, Party members and cadres involved in such crimes, gangs undermining grassroots Party organizations, and the roles of those in charge of the campaign.

Supervisory teams must formulate provincial-level plans and the results will be used for staff promotions.

Evidence found will be passed on to political and legal bodies or discipline and prosecution authorities.

The country began a campaign against organized crime and officials who shelter criminal organizations this year. The fight focuses on industries and areas prone to gang crime and organized crime that prompts the strongest public reaction.
