First round of tariffs on Chinese products ready at midnight

Tariffs on $34 billion of Chinese goods are scheduled to take effect at 12:01 am Friday in Washington, the US Trade Representative confirmed, Bloomberg reported. The Trump administration on June 15 unveiled plans to impose additional duties of 25 percent on Chinese goods worth around $50 billion, with the first round set to begin on July 6.
