A group of students from Nanjing University of East China's Jiangsu province, who volunteered to teach in an elementary school in a county in Yunnan province, ended their summer teaching support program in advance due to local people's sexual harassment.
The students' teaching support organization started its support program at Shanding Elementary School in Zhenxiong county on July 13.
The organization said on Monday on its official WeChat account that some of its female students experienced continuing sexual harassment from the locals, including improper language, stealing underwear and peeking as the students changed clothes.
On Sunday, some students found that a local man surnamed Shen had filmed the female students taking bath and shared the video with other people.
The organization said that they had to end the program to protect the students and prevent such harassment from happening again.
Local police have launched an investigation and said that people responsible will be punished.
