DRC's health ministry declares end of Ebola outbreak

KINSHASA - Health minister of Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) Oly Ilunga officially announced the end of the Ebola haemorrhagic fever epidemic in a statement made on national television Tuesday.

The health minister made the announcement after 42 days, or two incubation periods, with no new confirmed cases of the Ebola virus disease.

From April 1 through July 3, a total of 53 Ebola virus disease cases, including 29 deaths, were reported from Equateur Province.
