KATHMANDU - At least four people died, five went missing and a dozen injured after a landslide occurred at Timure in Nepal-China bordering district Rasuwa on Wednesday night, according to the district police office.
Timure is located some 3 km from the Rasuwagadhi border point, where most of the government offices are based.
"The landslide occurred at around 1:00 am and buried temporary shelters, hotels and a few vehicles. It also buried a temporary police post," a local police officer told Xinhua over phone.
Rescue efforts are underway since early Thursday while the search has been intensified for the missing persons.
District Administration Office at Rasuwa said additional security personnel have been deployed for search and rescue.
The monsoon-induced landslide has also disrupted power and communication service in the area, and blocked the road linking the district headquarters to Timure.
The northern district of Rasuwa is prone to landslides owing to its complex geography.
