Why do so many Chinese children wear glasses?

Editor's note: Children's eyesight is becoming an increasing concern for many Chinese parents. According to a WHO report, the myopia rate among Chinese youth is the highest in the world, at 70 percent for high school and college students and nearly 40 percent for primary school students. Why do children develop myopia at such an early age? Forum readers share their views.

Parents should start by telling children to stop using tablets and phones as babysitters, and try having quality time with their children instead.
