A series of events have been arranged for the week, including forums and an expo. The theme this year is "Cybersecurity for the people and by the people".
The week aims to promote President Xi Jinping's vision of building cyberpowers, demonstrate the major achievements China has made in cybersecurity, and improve the general public's cybersecurity awareness and defensive skills through educational campaigns using multiple channels and platforms, according to organizers.

The week is being hosted by the commission along with the Publicity Department of the Communist Party of China Central Committee, the ministries of education, industry and information technology, and public security, the People's Bank of China, the National Radio and Television Administration, the All-China Federation of Trade Unions, the Central Committee of the Communist Youth League of China, and the All-China Women's Federation.
