MEXICO CITY - The death toll from a shooting in Mexico City's Garibaldi Plaza has increased to six after a wounded man died at a hospital, local authorities said Monday.

In a press release, the Mexico City Attorney General's Office said the sixth victim was a 32-year-old man who was among those shot on Sept 14 in the popular tourist plaza known as a gathering spot for hiring mariachis for hire.

Gunmen dressed as mariachis singers opened fire on a bar located at the edge of the city's historic center.

Three people died at the scene, while the other three died in the following days at local hospitals where they were being treated.

On Monday, Mexico City's Attorney General Edmundo Garrido told the media that the investigation revealed the shooting was the result of a fight between drug dealers.

He said preliminary investigation showed the shooting targeted people inside the business as well as individuals some 40 meters away outside a convenience store.

In all, 13 people were shot, Garrido said, adding that there is a video of the gunmen arriving and fleeing the scene.

As the shooting began, bystanders ran through the plaza which is well-known to foreign tourists and also local people.
